Palais Lumière Evian, Splendours of the Prince of Liechtenstein’s Collection Exhibition

The Princely Family of Liechtenstein is one of the oldest aristocratic families in Europe. Its origins date back to the 12th century. In the 17th century the House of Liechtenstein put in place an extensive programme of patronage and sponsorships which has been passed down from generation to generation without a break. As a result, Prince Hans-Adam II de Liechtenstein’s private collections now contain five centuries of masterpieces of European art and represent one of the largest private collections in the world.

Your visit to the Palais Lumière in Evian will reveal the splendour of the Princes of Liechtenstein’s collections. The exhibition begins with the portraits of the Princes, and their passion for the arts. In 1608 the title of hereditary Prince was bestowed, for the first time, on Karl I, making the largest contribution to the Liechtenstein Family development in terms of patronage and wealth.
